Referring a Pupil to Cherry Grove Learning Centre
Referrals from Local Authorities
At Cherry Grove Learning Centre, we work closely with local authorities across West Wales to provide high-quality education and pastoral support for children and young people who may struggle in mainstream settings. We offer places for pupils aged 3 to 18 who require an alternative learning environment. This includes children who are experiencing anxiety or school-related phobias, awaiting a suitable placement, educated other than at school (EOTAS), on a reduced timetable, transitioning between settings, or identified as having Additional Learning Needs (ALN)
Our Approach
Our approach is rooted in care, flexibility and partnership. Cherry Grove provides a small, nurturing environment with individualised learning plans, qualified teachers and therapeutic support. We carefully review every referral to ensure we can meet each learner’s educational, social and emotional needs. From the moment a referral is made, our team maintains open and proactive communication with the referring authority. We share regular updates on attendance, progress and wellbeing as often as required to ensure that the authority remains fully informed and confident in the support being provided. Our goal is to build strong, trusting partnerships that put the young person’s success at the centre of everything we do.
The Referral Process
1. Initial Enquiry: Local authority officers, schools, or partner agencies can contact us directly via info@cherrygrovelearning.org or call 07525 254223.
2. Referral Form: We will provide a short referral form requesting background information, educational history, and any relevant assessments or reports.
3. Review Meeting: Once the form is received, our team will arrange a meeting (online or in person) with the referring officer, parent/carer, and young person to discuss suitability and support needs.
4. Placement Offer: If the placement is agreed, we issue a written offer including start date, timetable, fees, and support plan.
5. Ongoing Communication: We provide termly written updates as standard, but will contact the referring authority more frequently if preferred to ensure full collaboration and confidence in each learner’s progress.
